I always like to wear something stylish on my birthday. I received some lovely clothes for Christmas and have been saving some of the items to wear on my big day. Since I have to work I don’t have anything special planned but I am counting on a nice homemade meal followed by a few episodes of The Crown and Vikings with occasional pauses for phone greetings from my loved ones. All in all a perfect way to celebrate another year of life!

Like most of you, December is always crazy busy for me. In addition to preparing for the holidays and an end-of-the-year road trip to visit loved ones, I also have a wedding anniversary (21 and counting – see more here) and 3 birthdays to observe (all within 6 days of Christmas).

We’re planning on an anniversary meal at a trendy restaurant in town and also have a rock-n-roll work/date night planned for next weekend. I am looking forward to seeing if Rolf & Daughters lives up to its rave reviews, and beyond excited to see my husband play with his new band, The Smoky White Devils!

This weekend begins a 12-week schedule of travel (details here) and I am looking to pack as light as possible for each trip. My summer clothing leans heavily towards inexpensive pieces that I only need/want to last a season (although many items last a lot longer). Regardless of temperature, my wardrobe always consists of lots of black and blue basics mixed with pops of color. As I rack up the miles I’ll be packing an interchangeable wardrobe that can see me from work to play and day to night. I like to think of it as Garanimals for adults.

My younger son and I are off on the last college visit I will ever take (at least for my children). It’s a quick two day visit with lots of miles in between so heated seats, a stack of vintage rock cd’s, a tall cup of coffee, and my son’s company are essential to keep this road dog happy.

A theft of my cherished Ray Bans combined with daily prolonged computer time has forced me to finally upgrade my glasses game. My search began a few weeks ago and I had no trouble finding sunglass frames but settling on the perfect pair of eyeglasses was a much more involved process. This weekend I finally found THE pair, and come Saturday I’ll be rocking the Michael Kors Palos Verdes frame for indoors and the Tory Birch Ty 7078’s for outside.

Well it’s my birthday too, yeah…

Today I notch another year in my age belt. Earlier this week my husband and I marked twenty years of marriage. Tonight, we finally get to celebrate in style with a lovely dinner at The Standard. I’ve only been there to see a Katy K sponsored burlesque show in the 90’s, so I am excited to finally get to pop the cork on a bottle of our favorite champagne and share a meal together.

My big sis gave me a Nordies certificate a while back and I just found it buried in a stack of filing. I took myself shopping and while I saw much to like (clothes! bags! shoes!) it was the Ivanka Trump ‘Tenice‘ pump that made me cash in my gift. This is going to be my ‘go to’ shoe for the holidays…and beyond.
