You’re just window shopping…

A vintage tableau

I love to meander through vintage stores, flea markets, and antique malls to see what I can find (some past explorations can be found here and here).  I can spend hours exploring the treasures for sale and quite often find graphic and clothing inspiration in old furniture, vintage postcards, kitchen gadgets and the like.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven by a shop that looks interesting only to swear I’ll check it out ‘next time’, which rarely comes.  However, a few weeks ago while passing through historic Mullica Hill, an town I’ve driven through a gazillion times without ever once stopping (except for pizza), I finally decided to check it out… Continue reading “You’re just window shopping…”

It’s only rock and roll but I like it…

Please excuse my absence of late.  I’ve basically been getting my ass handed to me by life, resulting in zero energy to be creative.  When this happens, I escape by surfing the web exploring cool places to visit and things to do.  Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon an ad for a show I’ve planned imaginary visits to for the past two years, only to find I will  soon be able to drive ten miles down the road and see the show anytime I want.

The Rolling Stones “Exhibitionism” tour is coming to Nashville March 29th through June 30th and I am  beyond excited!   The first time I saw the Stones play was during their  ‘Some Girls’ tour in 1978 and the last time was during their ‘Bridges of Babylon’ tour in 1997.  I still wear my concert t’s, own most of their music catalog in one form or another, and continue to listen to the Exile on Main Street, Sticky Fingers, and Some Girls albums at least once a month.

Since I don’t have to travel far to see the show I thought I’d put my tourist planning skills to use for you instead.  Are you a Stones Fan? Are you interested in spending a weekend in Nashville to see the exhibit or the city? Not sure of where to stay, where to eat, or what to explore while in Music City?

All you need to do is follow my blog.  I’ll select three followers and create a personalized weekend itinerary that will have you and your tour mates experiencing Nashville like rock stars!

Got a pocket full of dreams…

A few weeks ago, I attended the Porter Flea Summer Market Preview Sale.  Porter Flea started a few years ago as a way to showcase the millennial craftsmen (and women) moving to Nashville.  I’m a crafty fox and spend a lot of my daydreaming moments trying to come up with ways to market and sell what I make, so I am always curious to see what other people are making – and asking – for their products… Continue reading “Got a pocket full of dreams…”

Sure plays a mean pinball….

Pinball Power Play

I’ve been a pinball junkie since I walked into the back room of our local hoagie shop and put a quarter into the slot of Gottlieb’s Wizard.  My habit quickly developed and I spent years hanging out in smoky game rooms and working arcades down the shore perfecting my playing skills.  Those skills have waned over the years and I haven’t seen, much less played pinball in a long time.  That’s why when I had to deliver a load of furniture to Indiana this past weekend I decided to detour to Lafayette and drop some quarters in the machines at Main Street Amusements Continue reading “Sure plays a mean pinball….”
